Q&A with Claire

What inspired you to start your business?

One Tuesday evening in March 2008, half way through Holby City, my husband told me that our marriage was over.  It was one of those moments when time stood still.  Everything changed in a heartbeat.

That moment is my “why” now.  At the time, there were no divorce coaches out there to guide me through the emotional minefield in which I found myself.  At first, it felt like it was happening to me, and it was overwhelming at times.  I realised, however, that I didn’t want to be a victim of my divorce.  I did not want it to define me.  Ten years on, I have rebuilt my life from the foundations up, and found more confidence and inner strength than I ever believed possible.  I am immensely proud of how I handled my divorce.  This is why I am so passionate about helping others to create their own new lives after divorce.

It’s not what happens to you that makes the difference, it’s what you do with what happens to you that matters.

What is unique about your business/approach that you would like everyone to know about?

I believe that, wherever there is change in our lives, however challenging, there is opportunity to grow, to learn, to take a fresh perspective and to enrich life.  Divorce is always a catalyst for change, which might be painful or scary, but it also offers opportunity.  My approach is compassionate, positive and forward-looking.  I offer 1-1 support to my clients along the path towards healing and recovery, helping them to make new choices and think differently, so that they can consciously take back the power in their own lives.

What are you currently working on or towards?

I’m always looking for new opportunities to spread my vision!  I’m currently talking to various potential partners across the UK.  I’m also working on setting a up a local and online support group for people who are going through a divorce and would like to meet others in a similar situation.

What’s your advice to aspiring entrepreneurs?

Belief in yourself and your value.  Set goals and deadlines and never give up.  Work with a coach or mentor.  Feel the fear, and do it anyway!

Who’ve been some of the mentors/people instrumental to your success?

I believe that every great coach needs a great coach.  I have been lucky to work with, and learn from, some truly wonderful and talented people.  Three stand out for me - Jools Parsons of Simply Jools is a brilliant life coach and mentor, Tamsin Acheson of the Business Haven is a fabulous business coach, and my husband, Paul, is an inspirational Transformational Coach himself.  I have fantastic role models around me!

Why did you choose to “get creative” with us?

Lidia was recommended to me by numerous people, so I checked out Visuable’s website.  I was struck by the beautiful photographs, and the clean lines, simplicity and vibrancy of the websites Visuable had created for other businesses.  It was a no-brainer of a decision!

How would you describe the process/experience?

Visuable break the process down into well defined stages, with clear focus and guidance at each stage to elicit the essence of your message and branding.  Lidia does exactly what she says she does – she is expert at visualising and bringing to life the essence of a personal brand.

What are one or two key things you learned from working with us?

That beautiful visuals are key to creating a powerful and exciting brand.  How important it is to understand the personal “why” behind your business, to give your brand that “edge”.

What responses or results have you received from your new brand images/website?

I have had hundreds of complements on the amazing pictures Lidia took for my website and across my social media accounts.  They have enabled me to really increase my profile and reach across all of my platforms.

Where can we find you online?

Website | Facebook | LinkedIn

Now that your new visual brand identity/website is launched... what's next for you?

To continue to build my business, to be the best divorce coach I can be!  To live my “why” and help others to create their new, vibrant lives, and soar like dragonflies!

Is there any last bit of advice you’d like to share?

It is often from adversity that opportunity is born.  Although my divorce felt like the worst thing that ever happened to me at first, it really has become one of the best things that ever happened to me.  It has given me my purpose, and my passion to build Claire Black Divorce Coach.
